Gwangju Seo-gu, Awarded 'Best Local Government' for Public Resource Opening and Sharing Service

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) was recently selected as the best local government in the ‘2023 Public Resource Opening and Sharing Service Local Government Performance Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 70 million KRW as an incentive.

According to Seo-gu on the 27th, the public resource opening and sharing service performance evaluation assessed the efforts and overall achievements of local governments nationwide in activating sharing services over the past year.

Since the evaluation was introduced in 2020, Seo-gu has continuously achieved excellent or higher grades in sharing evaluations, emerging as a leading city in sharing culture. With this top grade, it received financial incentives and commendations.

Throughout this year, Seo-gu has been dedicated to expanding various sharing projects that residents can directly experience. In particular, it has continuously focused on sharing by implementing the ‘Specialized Operation of Item Sharing Centers by Center’ in June and signing an agreement in July to open school shared parking lots, the first of its kind in Gwangju Metropolitan City since COVID-19.

Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, “The key to solving local community issues lies in sharing, and the meaningful award is the result of efforts to continuously spread sharing culture. We will continue to strive to create a leading sharing city through diversified sharing policy promotion.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu operates three item sharing centers within its jurisdiction and is doing its best to implement a Seo-gu type sharing model that promotes coexistence by sharing and dividing through various sharing promotion public projects.
