Actor Lee Seon-gyun (48), who was under police investigation for drug use, was found dead inside a vehicle.
According to the Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul, Lee was found unconscious inside his car parked at an undisclosed location in Seongbuk-gu at around 10:30 a.m. on the 27th.
Earlier, at 10:12 a.m., the police received a 112 report stating that "(Lee) wrote a note resembling a suicide letter and left his home," and they dispatched officers to the scene.
When the police found Lee, signs of an extreme choice were discovered inside his car, and firefighters who responded to the scene upon the police's joint response request determined that Lee had passed away.
The police are investigating the detailed circumstances, keeping in mind the possibility that he attempted an extreme act.
Until now, Lee had been under investigation by the police for marijuana and psychotropic drug charges under the Narcotics Control Act. The day before, he submitted a statement through his lawyer to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of the Incheon Police Agency, requesting a polygraph test.
Lee maintained that the only evidence related to his drug use charges was the testimony of A, a 29-year-old female manager of an entertainment establishment, and insisted that the credibility of the claims should be determined through a polygraph test.
