El Electric Completes 'Electric Vehicle Charger Specialized Manufacturing Center'

El Electric Co., Ltd., which operates the electric vehicle charging brand ‘Weavee,’ has completed the construction of a specialized manufacturing center for electric vehicle chargers.

Following its existing core business of manufacturing power cables at its factory in Samsung-myeon, Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk Province (covering 3,900 pyeong), the company has expanded into a new business with an electric vehicle charger and charging connector & cable manufacturing center located in Gwangneung Technovalley, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province (covering 1,100 pyeong). The center produces 7kW/11kW slow chargers, 30kW medium-speed chargers, 50kW/100kW integrated fast chargers, 200kW/240kW separated fast chargers, electric two-wheeler battery swapping charging systems (BSS), and is also developing and manufacturing new fire-prevention model chargers recently promoted by the Ministry of Environment.

El Electric, which directly manufactures electric vehicle chargers and charging connectors & cables, is the only domestic company that operates the charging business as well. It has dedicated research personnel, parts production, and automated production systems exclusively for electric vehicle chargers, making continuous efforts for domestic in-house production.

Proving this, El Electric operates 108 ‘Weavee’ charging stations nationwide. Through roaming agreements with the Ministry of Environment and 30 private charging operators, it provides convenient payment options for electric vehicle users. Mobile payment and QR code payment systems are available via the Weavee app.

In a situation where the electric vehicle charging industry faces issues with chargers being installed using subsidies from the Ministry of Environment and local governments but left unattended without proper aftercare, El Electric has gained users’ trust by building charging stations entirely through 100% self-investment without subsidy support, manufacturing and operating chargers directly, enabling immediate response to malfunctions and after-sales service.

An industry official stated, “With the completion of this large-scale specialized electric vehicle charger manufacturing factory, we have gained greater capabilities in the electric vehicle charger sector. While operating Weavee charging stations, we will supply chargers to charging operators and provide charging connectors & cables to charger manufacturers, further expanding the charging infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, El Electric was established in May 2019 and has expanded its business capabilities through manufacturing, charging cable production, and electric vehicle charger manufacturing. The electric vehicle charging service ‘Weavee,’ introduced at EV Trend Korea 2023, offers comprehensive services related to electric vehicle charging, including charger manufacturing, sales, maintenance, and charging platform development and operation. With the newly completed specialized electric vehicle charger manufacturing factory and R&D center as a starting point, the company aims to produce 10,000 electric vehicle chargers annually and actively devise customer convenience services to enhance charging convenience for electric vehicle users.
