Lee Byeong-gi was a figure who consistently gave various lectures and conducted research centered on the Joseon Language Society, and he is an independence activist who served about one year in prison due to the Joseon Language Society Incident in 1942.

Garam's diary records about 60 years of activities in detail, specifically showing what activities he undertook and when, as well as how the Joseon Language Society Incident began.

A city official said, "We wanted to provide an opportunity to see the noble achievements of Garam Lee Byeong-gi, who sought to protect our language and literature, moving beyond the previous focus on his literary accomplishments. We hope for much interest."

Meanwhile, the Garam Literature Museum was opened in 2017 in Yeosan to honor the achievements and spirit of Garam Lee Byeong-gi, a sijo poet and Korean literature scholar who preserved our language and culture and revived sijo in a modern way.

The interior of the museum offers a permanent exhibition room featuring Garam Lee Byeong-gi’s life, sijo, and personal belongings; a video room where visitors can watch a brief summary video; and an experience room where visitors can enjoy various literary books, write sijo, and play sijo, encouraging free literary experiences for visitors.
