KT Activates IPTV Home Shopping with AI Technology: "Marketing Support and Product Recommendations"

KT is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technology to analyze data from Genie TV home shopping users to revitalize TV home shopping.


On the 27th, KT announced the launch of 'Genie TV Shopping Insight,' a big data analytics platform that supports marketing for Genie TV home shopping broadcasters.

Genie TV Shopping Insight is a big data platform that uses KT's AI technology to analyze real-time viewing data of Genie TV home shopping. It visualizes data such as viewer numbers, market share, churn and inflow counts, viewing time, and repeat viewing, providing this information to home shopping broadcasters on KT Genie TV.


Moreover, by utilizing KT’s converged data, it analyzes customer response data such as viewing patterns, order calls, and app access of home shopping viewers, supporting marketing activities like product sourcing and broadcast scheduling for home shopping operators.


Next year, KT plans to create a personalized recommendation system by analyzing home shopping usage behavior information with AI.


Additionally, KT will establish 'Shopping Plus (Shopping+),' a Genie TV home shopping channel aggregation service, to create a convenient shopping environment for viewers. This service will be placed prominently on the 'Live Channel Hall' on the media portal home screen of Genie TV, with enhanced product recommendation features.


Shopping+ is an aggregation service that allows viewers to see 17 domestic home shopping channels at a glance. It revamped the UI of the existing service 'Shopping N Benefits' to group channels by home shopping brand, adding features such as scheduled viewing reservations, checking special-priced products, and rewatching popular broadcast VODs. Furthermore, a dedicated Shopping+ shortcut button is provided on the Genie TV remote control to improve shopping convenience for viewers.


Through Shopping+, KT Genie TV customers can also order special discounted products exclusively available to them. Five products, including KT Alpha Shopping’s popular item 'Lee Young-ja’s Boneless Galbitang,' can be repurchased via VOD. In collaboration with CJ OnStyle, an event is ongoing offering KT Genie TV customers exclusive benefits, such as purchasing 12 packs of five types of Bibigo dumplings at the lowest domestic price of 32,310 KRW, a 42% discount.
