Daughter Shares Story on Online Bulletin Board
Company Learns and Invites Family
"Grateful Heart" Donates 1 Million Won
The story of a woman in her 70s who wandered through rainy streets to buy a hamburger from the famous British chef Gordon Ramsay's restaurant for her daughter has become a hot topic. Upon hearing the news, the company invited the family ahead of Christmas, and the daughter reportedly donated 1 million won as a token of gratitude.
The protagonist of the story, Mr. A, posted a message on an online community on the 14th titled "My 70-year-old mom went back and forth for an hour just to get me one hamburger, and I feel so upset."

Ms. B, the 70-year-old mother of Mr. A, participated in an event at a hamburger store that had recently opened, where the first 50 customers received a free hamburger. The store appears to be the Gordon Ramsay Street Burger located in Lotte Department Store, Michuhol-gu, Incheon.
Ms. B remembered her daughter A mentioning in passing that a hamburger place she wanted to try was holding an opening event nearby. On a cold, rainy winter morning, Ms. B secretly took the subway to the store without telling her daughter. However, she got lost at the entrance of the hamburger shop and ultimately failed to be among the first 50 customers.
Ms. B sent a KakaoTalk message to Mr. A, wondering if she should buy a hamburger instead, but Mr. A, busy with work at the time, only saw the message an hour later. Ms. B waited about an hour for a reply and eventually returned home empty-handed.
Mr. A was upset that his ailing mother had struggled in the rain and scolded her, asking, "Why did you go all the way there?" but Ms. B replied, "I wanted to surprise you. I'm sorry." This message reportedly moved Mr. A deeply.
He expressed, "Mom didn’t even know the entrance or the menu, so she went all that way and couldn’t buy a single hamburger, which was all in vain. Mom is not in good health and has bad knees, so she can’t easily go up and down stairs. I’m so upset that I don’t think I’ll ever forget this."
The story of Mr. A’s family quickly spread through social media. An image capturing the post recorded over 2.1 million views on X. The story eventually reached the hamburger store where Ms. B had wandered looking for the entrance.
Subsequently, the hamburger store reportedly invited Mr. A’s family to the store and treated them to food. Mr. A shared this news on an online community on the 24th.

He posted a photo taken at the store with his family, saying, "I was only upset thinking that my hardworking mother still struggles for her daughter even at seventy, but within an hour of posting, hundreds of comments expressing sympathy appeared, which really surprised me." He added, "I regret that I couldn’t hide my upset feelings from my mom and that my first words were 'Why did you go when you’re sick?'"
He continued, "I witnessed a miraculous moment where sadness turned into happiness right before my eyes, and out of gratitude, I decided to donate 1 million won, which is not much, but our family will cherish the kindness we received forever."
