Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it is implementing thorough measures to protect the safety and lives of residents living in vulnerable households such as semi-basement homes.
This year, the district completed a full survey of 7,891 semi-basement households. Through the survey, flood risk levels and necessary facilities to prevent flooding were identified.
Subsequently, flood prevention (evacuation) facilities such as operable security windows and water barriers were provided to 374 households in need, and applications were accepted from other interested households, completing installation in a total of 919 homes.
A district official stated, “Next year, we plan to provide free installation of flood prevention facilities for all semi-basement homes.”
Based on the current full survey results, the district is managing the 7,891 semi-basement households by risk level of flood damage, and especially provides tailored services through care officers for households with safety risks.
In addition, the district is implementing a Safe Home Repair Subsidy project targeting vulnerable households, semi-basement homes, and low-rise houses within housing performance improvement support zones. This year, approximately 320 million KRW was supported for construction costs related to performance improvement works such as insulation, waterproofing, windows, and fire safety facilities for a total of 50 households.
To support relocation of semi-basement residents, settlement support funds are also provided, currently offering 200,000 KRW per month to 6 households.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “The goal of Dobong-gu’s semi-basement housing support policy is to ensure housing safety and improve living environments for all semi-basement residents,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to promote projects that prevent safety accidents for semi-basement households.”
