According to the police on the 26th, the National Police Agency recently suspended A, the Commissioner General of the Central Police Academy. A was booked and is under investigation by the prosecution on charges including bribery, for receiving money through brokers and requests for personnel promotions while serving as a provincial police chief from 2021 to 2022. On the 6th, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure of A's office at the Central Police Academy and previous workplaces.

The police decided to suspend A from duty, considering it inappropriate for him to perform his duties following the notification of the investigation. However, A is reportedly denying all charges.

The prosecution has indicted Seong Mo (62), the case broker, and is investigating current and former prosecution and police officials regarding bribery and personnel request misconduct. So far, the prosecution has indicted three current and former prosecution and police officials and is investigating about 20 others. A former Commissioner General, who was suspected of personnel misconduct, was found dead. The Commissioner General is the third highest rank in the police, following the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency and the Deputy Commissioner General, and holds senior positions such as provincial police chief.
