6 Global Influencers Participate in Bell-Ringing Ceremony

It is expected that hundreds of millions of people worldwide will watch this year's Bosingak bell-ringing event. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has elevated the New Year's Eve bell-ringing event to a "Global New Year Festival with the World" and has included six global influencers among the 18 participants this year. The combined number of subscribers on social media platforms (SNS) of these six global influencers exceeds 100 million.


The most eye-catching participant in the bell-ringing event is Jang Elinada, a naturalized Korean born in Uzbekistan. Selected as a global influencer, Jang Elinada is a world-renowned influencer with 13.3 million TikTok followers (as of the 26th), 3.42 million Instagram followers, and 1.18 million YouTube subscribers. She was born in Ukraine in 1998 but naturalized in 2002. Before naturalization, her name was Elina Ildarovna Karimova. Although born in Ukraine, she attended elementary, middle, and high school in Korea and is fluent in Korean. With her outstanding beauty and talents in dance and singing, she attracts significant attention on social media.

Other global influencers participating in the New Year's Eve bell-ringing event alongside Jang Elinada include Kristina Kika Kim, a model born in Kazakhstan with 36.5 million TikTok followers; Kristel Fulgar, known as the nation's younger sister in the Philippines; and Anushka Sen, an Indian model and actress. Sen and Fulgar have 39.5 million and 3.3 million Instagram followers, respectively.


Jang Elinada will also participate in the influencer expo "2023 SeoulCon," held over three days starting on the 30th at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). She has been appointed as a SeoulCon ambassador along with Fulgar. SeoulCon is a global content festival featuring over 3,000 teams of famous influencers from more than 50 countries. During the event, 28 programs will be held across four fields: festivals, conferences, content/fashion/beauty, and performance/entertainment.


The combined number of social media subscribers of influencers participating in SeoulCon exceeds 3 billion. Considering the world population is 8 billion, approximately 37% of the global population follows these influencers. SeoulCon is hosted by the Seoul Business Agency (SBA), an organization under the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Seoul aims to leverage the influence of global influencers participating in SeoulCon to widely promote Korean culture, music, fashion, and beauty. The Seoul Metropolitan Government and SBA have announced plans to develop SeoulCon into a world-class expo, establish a foundation for the creative industry, and position Seoul as a "hub city for the one-person media industry."


The highlight of this year's festival is the "SeoulCon × World K-Pop Festival × Countdown" event held on the night of the 31st. It is a K-pop concert featuring artists such as Jay Park and Chungha. The SBA stated that the concert will be linked with the "Bosingak bell" event, allowing influencers and citizens to participate in the New Year's countdown, followed by an EDM festival after midnight.
