Han Dong-hoon, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on the 26th that regarding the opposition party's push for a special prosecution law related to allegations of stock manipulation involving Kim Gun-hee, the wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, "We will have sufficient discussions on how the party will respond."
At an inauguration press conference held at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, Han said, "Starting today, as the Emergency Response Committee Chairman leading the ruling party, I will speak responsibly about the matters sufficiently discussed with the party and take bold actions." While withholding a specific stance on the special prosecution law, he maintained his view that the bill is a "malicious law for the general election."
Regarding former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok's announcement of his intention to leave the party on the 27th, he said, "Our party is a liberal democratic party, and the more people with diverse thoughts gather, the stronger we become," adding, "Once I assume office, I will meet and listen to many people with diverse opinions regardless of faction." He also added, "I do not have any plans based on specific individuals."
Handonghun, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, is making an inaugural statement at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 26th.
Addressing concerns about Han's lack of experience due to personnel changes, he said, "I will consult thoroughly with Representative Yoon Jae-ok. We are here not to show off but to win for our fellow citizens," adding, "Many may be impatient, but I believe it is more important to provide the right answer than a quick one."
Regarding criticism of the vertical relationship between the party and the government, Han emphasized, "The president and the ruling party, and the ruling party and the government are institutions that perform their respective duties within the constitutional framework, so the discussion of horizontal or vertical relationships is not appropriate," stressing, "We complement each other and have a partnership relationship; we do our part, and the president does his."
