The Korea Exchange is set to hold its second discussion forum on short-selling system improvements, with Park Soon-hyuk, a writer famous as the 'Battery Uncle,' also expected to attend.
The Korea Exchange announced that it will host a 'Computerization Forum to Prevent Illegal Short Selling' at 10 a.m. on the 27th at its Yeouido headquarters in Seoul. This is the second short-selling system improvement forum following the first one held on the 4th, which focused on 'Resolving the Tilted Playing Field in Short Selling.'
Attending this forum will be Park Soon-hyuk, known as the 'Battery Uncle,' and Jung Eui-jung, the representative of the Korea Federation of Investment Associations. Since the first forum faced controversy over bias due to the large number of participants from securities-related organizations, inviting prominent external figures is seen as an effort to address this issue.
Representing the industry, Jang In-su, team leader at Shinhan Fund Partners, will attend, and from academia, Professor Kim Dae-jong of the Department of Business Administration at Sejong University is scheduled to participate. Additionally, Kim Deuk-ui, representative of the Financial Justice Solidarity, will attend to represent the interests of individual investors.
Meanwhile, the forum will discuss overall improvement measures for the short-selling system, including ▲computerization to prevent illegal short selling ▲improvements to the short-selling system such as collateral ratios and repayment periods.
