AI medical technology specialist company Weisen has been selected as a 'G-PASS' company and is actively targeting the overseas procurement market.
G-PASS (Government Performance Assured) is a system implemented by the Overseas Procurement Information Center of the Public Procurement Service. It selects promising small and medium-sized enterprises with high potential for entering overseas procurement markets to strategically target overseas government procurement markets. Utilizing the Public Procurement Service's overseas network, it provides various support to companies with export competitiveness in target countries to help them remain competitive in the overseas procurement market.
The main product selected as a G-PASS company is the AI-based stomach and colon endoscopy image analysis software 'Weimed Endo,' which holds a high market share in the domestic AI gastrointestinal endoscopy market. Weimed Endo enables rapid and accurate detection of abnormal lesions in the stomach and colon during endoscopic examinations together with medical staff, making it highly preferred by medical institutions.
In July, Weimed Endo was recognized for its innovation by being designated as the 37th innovative medical device by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its capability to analyze stomach endoscopy images in real-time, detect suspected gastric cancer areas, and provide gastric cancer probability information to medical staff. The product has already been introduced and is in clinical use at medical institutions in seven countries including Vietnam, Thailand, and the UAE, as well as domestically, leading industry observers to view this G-PASS designation as a signal for expanding into overseas markets.
Kim Kyung-nam, CEO of Weisen, said, "Weimed Endo is already aggressively pursuing sales in the domestic procurement market, and as a result, good outcomes are emerging in domestic procurement," adding, "The overseas procurement market is a significantly large and attractive market, so we will use the G-PASS certification to create a new trend of K-medical AI in that market."
Meanwhile, Weisen was the first domestic AI stomach and colon endoscopy software to be selected for the Public Procurement Service's innovative product pilot project and has supplied Weimed Endo to Ilsan Hospital, Central Veterans Hospital, and Gangneung Medical Center.
