Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will operate COVID-19 screening clinics only until the 30th of this month.
On the 26th, Seongnam City announced that following the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters' decision to maintain the current COVID-19 crisis level at 'Alert' while ending the operation of screening clinics to transition to a general medical system, the screening clinics at Sujeong, Jungwon, and Bundang District Public Health Centers and Seongnam Jeong Hospital will operate only until the 30th.
Accordingly, COVID-19 diagnostic tests will only be available at general medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics that prescribe oral antiviral treatments.
High-risk facility workers, general inpatients, and their caregivers who were previously eligible for free PCR tests will have to pay for tests at general medical institutions starting next year.
However, as the high-risk group protection policy remains, free PCR tests will still be available for oral antiviral treatment target groups (those aged 60 and above, patients aged 12 and older with underlying conditions or immunocompromised), patients scheduled for hospital admission, and their resident caregivers (emergency room and intensive care unit patients, high-risk inpatients, residents of nursing hospitals, psychiatric medical institutions, and nursing facilities).
A Seongnam City Public Health Center official stated, "With the end of screening clinic operations, we will normalize public health center functions and strengthen ongoing infectious disease prevention and management activities," and urged, "Considering the simultaneous spread of respiratory infections in winter, please thoroughly follow proper handwashing and personal hygiene guidelines."
