Confession of Feelings Through Interview
Drug Use Sentencing Scheduled for the 18th of Next Month
Broadcaster Seo Min-jae (30, renamed Seo Eun-woo) who was prosecuted on charges of methamphetamine use tearfully confessed that drug use ruined not only her life but also her family's life.
On the 24th, JTBC reported an interview with Seo Min-jae. In the interview, Seo recalled the time she personally revealed her drug use on social media (SNS), saying, "I had the wrong idea that I was using drugs to relieve some depressive feelings, but the side effects made things worse, and I overdosed on psychiatric medication, causing a blackout (loss of memory), so I think that's why I posted that message. I jumped (from the second floor) after writing the post, but I don't remember anything."

Last August, Seo Min-jae posted on SNS that she and her then-boyfriend, singer Nam Tae-hyun, had used methamphetamine. In the post, Seo wrote, "Nam Tae-hyun and I. Junkies," and "Look at my company's cabinet. Syringes," and in the photos she shared, the two appeared to be intoxicated by drugs. After seeing this, netizens reported Seo and Nam to the police, and both admitted to drug use.
As a result, Seo revealed that she lost her job as an automobile mechanic and that her mother, who was a teacher, also quit her job because of her. She said, "My mother was a middle school teacher, but she said she had no face to see her students. She retired like that," and with teary eyes added, "I feel so sorry that my crime made my mother take responsibility as well."
Seo also spoke about how society views female drug users more negatively than males. She said, "Even now, from a social perspective, female drug users are viewed more negatively," and added, "Especially because it is often discussed in a negative light in terms of sexuality, it was difficult to overcome that. From what I have seen, there were no women former drug users who stepped forward publicly," expressing her distress.
