Appointment of 5 Officials Including Lee In-geun, Head of Climate Environment Headquarters from Dongdaemun-gu Environmental Service Exam; Kim Tae-myung, Transportation Planning Officer from Seocho-gu Administrative Service Exam; Kim Kwon-gi, Director of Resource Recovery Facility Promotion Team from Jongno-gu; Kim Hyuk, Safety General Officer from Yeongdeungpo-gu; and Bae Hyun-sook, Administrative Director of University of Seoul from Geumcheon-gu
In the recent high-level personnel appointments in Seoul effective January 1 next year, deputy district heads were newly appointed in five autonomous districts: Dongdaemun-gu, Seocho-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Jongno-gu, and Geumcheon-gu.
They are Lee In-geun, Director of Climate and Environment Headquarters in Dongdaemun-gu; Kim Tae-myeong, Director of Transportation Planning in Seocho-gu; Kim Hyuk, Safety General Manager in Yeongdeungpo-gu; Kim Gwon-gi, Head of Resource Recovery Facility Promotion Team in Jongno-gu; and Bae Hyun-sook, Administrative Director at University of Seoul in Geumcheon-gu.
Among them, those who passed the civil service exam are Lee In-geun, Deputy District Head of Dongdaemun-gu, and Kim Tae-myeong, Deputy District Head of Seocho-gu. Kim Hyuk, Deputy District Head of Yeongdeungpo-gu; Kim Gwon-gi, Deputy District Head of Jongno-gu; and Bae Hyun-sook, Deputy District Head of Geumcheon-gu were specially recruited at grade 7 from University of Seoul.
Regarding their alma maters, Deputy District Head Kim Tae-myeong of Seocho-gu graduated from Korea University, but the other four?Deputy District Heads Lee In-geun of Dongdaemun-gu, Kim Hyuk of Yeongdeungpo-gu, Kim Gwon-gi of Jongno-gu, and Bae Hyun-sook of Geumcheon-gu?are graduates of University of Seoul, showing a deep root of University of Seoul alumni within the city’s municipal universities. Currently, among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, there are eight deputy district heads from University of Seoul, the largest number.
Deputy District Head Lee In-geun of Dongdaemun-gu is an expert in the climate and environment field, having passed the administrative civil service exam in the environmental sector and served as a key director and environmental planning officer in Seoul’s environmental department. His appointment to Dongdaemun-gu is interpreted as reflecting Mayor Lee Pil-hyung’s strong interest in creating a carbon-neutral city.
Deputy District Head Kim Tae-myeong of Seocho-gu has held key practical positions such as Director of Seoul’s Bus Policy Division, Budget Officer, Financial Planning Officer, and Transportation Planning Officer before moving to Seocho-gu to support Mayor Jeon Seong-su’s major campaign pledges.
Deputy District Head Kim Hyuk of Yeongdeungpo-gu entered public service as a grade 7 tax officer and worked in Songpa, Yongsan, and Gangnam districts. After serving as Director of Employment and Director of General Affairs, he was promoted to grade 3 and worked as Safety General Manager before being selected by Mayor Choi Ho-gwon.
Deputy District Head Kim Gwon-gi of Jongno-gu is a University of Seoul tax department graduate who joined Seoul city as a grade 7 officer and served as Planning Officer and Deputy Director of the Waterworks Headquarters.
Deputy District Head Bae Hyun-sook of Geumcheon-gu graduated from University of Seoul’s Computer Science department and worked in Seoul city as a grade 7 officer. After serving as Media Officer and spending six months as Director of the Welfare Bureau in Geumcheon-gu, she began working with Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon. She has 1 year and 6 months remaining in her actual public service period.
All these deputy district heads are expected to assist the district mayors’ priorities while maintaining harmonious relationships with district executives and staff.
