Fire at Apartment in Banghak-dong, Dobong-gu on Christmas Dawn... 2 Dead (Comprehensive)

At around 4:57 a.m. on the 25th, a fire broke out in an apartment in Banghak-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, resulting in 2 deaths and 29 injuries. At the scene, three people were found in cardiac arrest: a man in his 30s named Park, another man named Lim, and an unidentified woman in her 70s. They were transported to a nearby hospital, where 2 of them died. One man fell from the floor above the unit where the fire started, and the other two were found on the stairs.

Additionally, 28 people sustained various injuries or inhaled smoke during the evacuation process. The fire is believed to have started in a unit on the 3rd floor of the apartment. The Fire Department issued a Level 1 response, mobilizing all personnel, at around 5:04 a.m., and contained the major flames by 6:36 a.m. The fire was fully extinguished by approximately 8:40 a.m., three hours after it began.

So far, a total of 31 people have been reported affected by this fire, including 2 deaths, 1 serious injury, and 28 minor injuries. A Fire Department official stated, "The number of minor injuries may change as some were not transported to the hospital at the scene or may develop symptoms later after inhaling smoke." Fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
