"Panel is Unfair" People Power Party Files MBC Radio KCSC Review Request

MBC 'News High Kick' Panel Composition Criticized for Unfairness
"Shin In-kyu Criticizes More Maliciously Than the Democratic Party"

The People Power Party has filed a request for review with the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) regarding MBC Radio, citing unfair panel composition in the radio broadcast.

On the 24th, the People Power Party's Media Bureau stated in a press release, "We have determined that the MBC radio broadcast violated election broadcasting review regulations," revealing this information.

On the previous day's afternoon broadcast of MBC Radio's 'Kim Chi-hyung's News High Kick,' Lee Jae-young, the People Power Party's Gangdong-eul district committee chair in Seoul, Kwon Ji-woong, former emergency committee member of the Democratic Party, and Shin In-gyu, preparatory committee chair of the Minshim Donghaeng party, appeared.

In the review request, the People Power Party pointed out, "In election-related broadcasts, fair opportunities must be provided to candidates and parties. However, Shin In-gyu, who left the People Power Party and is not even a third party in the National Assembly, was deliberately invited, resulting in a 1-to-2 discussion structure that was absolutely disadvantageous to the People Power Party."

The People Power Party claimed that Shin used more provocative expressions than the Democratic Party panelists and criticized maliciously. They highlighted Shin's remarks referring to the nomination of Han Dong-hoon as emergency committee chair as a 'super prosecution agency' and 'a tragedy of the Republic of Korea.'

They added, "The host also led the discussion for about 38 minutes out of the total 40 minutes focusing on issues related to the People Power Party, inducing criticism, and unfairly blocked opportunities for the People Power Party to respond to Democratic Party-related issues," urging, "We hope the KCSC will take a stricter stance against the continued 'Gaeddal broadcast' on terrestrial radio, which is the property of the people."

Shin entered politics during former leader Lee Jun-seok's tenure through a spokesperson public audition led by Lee and served as a full-time deputy spokesperson. However, in October, he left the People Power Party, stating, "The People Power Party, which once had support from the moderate and younger generations, has completely become President Yoon Seok-youl's private faction."

In early November, he declared, "While political polarization is blazing, public sentiment caught in between has cooled down, so I will normalize the political temperature," and joined as the preparatory committee chair of Minshim Donghaeng party.
