Officials from the Sri Lanka government, including the Minister of Overseas Employment, visited Chosun University of Science and Technology to sign an exchange agreement supporting Sri Lankan international students and discuss educational cooperation plans.
On the 22nd, Jagath Pushpakumara, Minister of Overseas Employment of Sri Lanka, and Herath Shehara, Presidential Youth Secretary, along with four other Sri Lankan government officials, visited Chosun University of Science and Technology.
This visit by Sri Lankan government officials to Chosun University of Science and Technology was prompted by the recent increase in Sri Lankan youth aspiring to study and work in Korea, leading the Sri Lankan government to request a cooperation agreement to support their international students.
On this day, the two institutions held a business agreement ceremony between Chosun University of Science and Technology and the Sri Lanka Ministry of Overseas Employment, agreeing to actively cooperate in vocational education and language training for Sri Lankan students, while discussing specific implementation plans.
Korea is one of the most preferred countries for Sri Lankan youth seeking employment, and recently there has been growing interest in various cultural and artistic fields such as K-pop and K-food.
Chosun University of Science and Technology plans to support Sri Lankan students in learning Korean and finding overseas employment, while strengthening its cooperative relationship with the Sri Lankan government.
Jo Soon-gye, President of Chosun University of Science and Technology, stated, "We will support Sri Lankan students to experience Korea and enhance their learning capabilities," adding, "We will proceed with prompt practical consultations to achieve concrete results." Jagath Pushpakumara, Minister of Overseas Employment of Sri Lanka, said, "Sri Lanka and Korea have long been diplomatic partners," and expressed hope that "talented Sri Lankan youth will learn about Korea at Chosun University of Science and Technology and realize their dreams of overseas employment."
