Kim Geun-sik: "Han Dong-hoon Must Propose Solutions to Kim Gun-hee Risk and Hong Beom-do Controversy"

"A Non-Standing Committee Chairperson Who Speaks Up Is Needed"

Kim Geun-sik, former head of the People Power Party's Vision and Strategy Office, stated that Han Dong-hoon, former Minister of Justice who accepted the position of the party's Emergency Response Committee Chairman, must present solutions to three issues: the 'Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act,' the 'relocation of General Hong Beom-do's bust,' and 'nomination reform.'

Kim appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' on the 22nd and said, "The Democratic Party is attacking with the 'presidential avatar' frame, but it depends on Han's actions after assuming the Emergency Response Committee Chairman position."

Kim said, "First, the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act issue must be wisely resolved based on public sentiment," adding, "(If the Special Prosecutor Act passes,) the president will exercise the veto power, and if the veto is exercised without conditions, it could provoke a backlash from public opinion." He continued, "When requesting reconsideration from the president, preconditions must be set," and said, "The party should seek solutions to the risks related to Kim Geon-hee by linking it to the appointment of a special inspector or the establishment of a second secretariat."

Regarding the issue of General Hong Beom-do's bust, Kim said Han should express his own voice. He explained, "As party leader, he should demand revisions to the overly ideological existing Yoon Seok-youl administration's policies," and added, "Rather than relocating General Hong Beom-do's bust, it would be better to add busts of national army heroes, including General Baek Seon-yeop, at the Korea Military Academy, thereby resolving the issue of General Hong Beom-do's bust."

Kim also emphasized the need for nomination reform, saying, "The party should show innovation in nominations as a centrist party in the metropolitan area, not as a vested interest party in Yeongnam."

Regarding former leader Lee Jun-seok's departure from the People Power Party and the formation of a new party, Kim said, "This issue needs to be resolved, but there is no sharp way to do so, and even if resolved, I wonder if it would be beneficial," drawing a line against the 'non-Yoon faction inclusion theory' raised within the party. Kim said, "(Lee, who has announced his departure,) will leave on the 27th, next Wednesday, and Han Dong-hoon will only assume office after the national committee vote on the 26th," adding, "So it will be difficult to meet before then, and for now, the patient has left."
