The prosecution investigating the perjury case in the trial of former Deputy Director Kim Yong of the Democratic Research Institute (57, detained) has detected signs of involvement by a member of the Democratic Party and launched a forced investigation on the 22nd.
The Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kang Baeksin) conducted a search and seizure of the residence and office of Seong Junhoo, former head of the Management Headquarters at Gyeonggi-do Youth Training Center and deputy spokesperson of the Democratic Party, in connection with charges including perjury instruction. Lee Woojong, former president of the Gyeonggi Art Center, was also included in the search and seizure targets.
The prosecution suspects that they were involved in the process of perjury regarding the alibi of former Deputy Director Kim, related to the timing of illegal fund receipt, in which a person surnamed Lee, who was the head of the Gyeonggi Market Promotion Agency, testified falsely during Kim's trial in May.
