Daejeon City has secured 4.2 trillion won in national funding for next year. For the second consecutive year, it has succeeded in securing more than 4 trillion won in national funds, establishing the scale of the local budget at the 4 trillion won level.
On the 22nd, Daejeon City announced that despite the government's sound fiscal policy, it succeeded in securing 4.274 trillion won in national funds, an increase of 125.5 billion won (3.0%) compared to the previous year.
The major reflected budgets include ▲Design costs for the establishment of the Space Technology Innovation Talent Development Center (1 billion won) ▲Renovation of facilities for the 2027 Summer World University Games (300 million won) ▲Creation of the Millennium Forest at Daecheongho Lake (2 billion won) ▲Construction of a freight truck rest area in the northern region (Daedeok) (500 million won), among others.
Additionally, Daejeon secured an additional 12 billion won in national funds by being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public contest project to build a National Safety Experience Center.
During the National Assembly review process, Daejeon, in cooperation with Chungcheong region lawmakers and bipartisan support, achieved an increase and secured 20.5 billion won for 15 projects including ▲Design plan for the Daejeon Station area urban convergence special zone (500 million won) ▲Feasibility study for the Webtoon IP Cluster development project (200 million won) ▲Road construction between Jangdong and Ihyeon (400 million won) ▲(Daejeon) Smart logistics technology demonstration project (3 billion won) ▲Autonomous vehicle demonstration project for the Chungcheong region metropolitan transportation network (1.74 billion won) ▲Construction of an independent building for the Defense Mental Power Institute (218 million won) ▲Relocation and development of the downtown bus garage at Daejeon Station East Plaza (171 million won) ▲Defense and space materials, parts, and equipment 3D printing joint manufacturing center (3 billion won), among others.
Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon said, “Despite the government's sound fiscal policy, Daejeon has achieved the outcome of securing national budgets for most of the projects we need. Next year marks the third year of the 8th elected administration, and Daejeon will do its best to deliver substantial policy results that citizens can feel.”
