Selected as an 'Outstanding Institution for Disaster Safety Regular Training'
Won 6 Safety Awards This Year
Gwangju Transportation Corporation (President Jo Ik-moon) has once again demonstrated its excellent safety management capabilities by being selected as an 'Outstanding Institution for 2023 Disaster Safety Continuous Training' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The corporation announced on the 21st that it received a commendation and a monetary award from the Minister of the Interior and Safety in recognition of its outstanding response capabilities demonstrated during the 2023 Chungmu Training and Disaster Response Safety Korea Training conducted this year.
In May, as part of the Chungmu Training, the corporation conducted an exercise at Nongsung Station to quickly and safely evacuate passengers in the event of an explosive terrorist attack, receiving high praise for its performance.
Additionally, in October, during the Safety Korea Training jointly conducted with Gwangsan District Office of Gwangju, a joint drill was held involving 200 personnel from five related organizations, simulating a derailment and fire caused by an earthquake, which further enhanced their situation response capabilities.
With this award for outstanding institution, the corporation has swept six external awards in the safety field alone this year, including designation as the best operator in railway safety and recognition as an excellent institution in disaster management evaluation, establishing itself as a safety model for urban railway operators.
In particular, attention was drawn to the systematization of procedures such as fire suppression, life rescue, accident control, and facility damage recovery in preparation for the increasing number of large-scale disasters, as well as the enhancement of disaster response capabilities through proactive use of the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE devices) for safety management.
Jo Ik-moon, President of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, said, “Winning six external awards in the safety field this year is the result of all employees prioritizing citizen safety as the highest value and working together. We will continue to do our best to realize safe public transportation.”
