Polaris Office is partnering with Obigo, a smart car software platform specialist, to develop AI (artificial intelligence) work support services for vehicles. The strategy is to combine the technological strengths of both companies and establish new business models to secure a leading position in the 'Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV)' market, a core sector of the future automotive industry.
On the 21st, Polaris Office announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Obigo to develop AI-based vehicle work support services. The two companies will jointly promote marketing activities to commercialize vehicle AI work support services optimized for the AI mobility environment.
Following the provision of AI office functions based on Tesla displays, Polaris Office plans to expand applications through the Obigo platform, which is installed in various completed vehicles. Additionally, leveraging Obigo’s smart car software platform, Polaris Office aims to strengthen its competitiveness as an 'AI work platform' company by linking not only simple document creation apps but also other work support services such as email and messenger.
Obigo will expand the vehicle infotainment domain through 'Polaris Office,' which has 127 million global subscribers. By incorporating content essential for improving work productivity, Obigo plans to extend its business into the work support service sector and lead innovation in in-vehicle AI services.
Ji Jun-kyung, CEO of Polaris Office, stated, "According to the SDV transition strategies of global automakers, cars will become 'living spaces for mobility' centered on software, and further evolve into 'moving office spaces.' Through AI-based vehicle technology collaboration with Obigo, we will pioneer new business models in the SDV market and lead profitability improvements."
Hwang Do-yeon, CEO of Obigo, emphasized, "In line with the upcoming autonomous driving era, we will lay the foundation for transforming vehicles into workspaces where documents can be manipulated and meetings analyzed. We plan to actively expand technological cooperation to apply innovative AI services to vehicles in the future."
Obigo is a smart car software platform specialist supplying proprietary vehicle software solutions and mobility platforms to domestic and international automakers. It delivers vehicle infotainment solutions to global automakers including Hyundai Motor Group, KG Mobility, Renault Group, Nissan, Toyota, Volvo Korea, Mitsubishi, and Jaguar Land Rover.
Polaris Office officially launched 'Polaris Office AI,' an AI office platform equipped with generative AI functions such as OpenAI's 'ChatGPT' and Naver's 'HyperCLOVA X,' in September. In October, it developed the Office Car Mode feature compatible with Tesla displays, expanding the market into the SDV industry as a new device for the AI era. The web office car mode allows document viewing and editing via voice control and enables document analysis based on the AskDoc Q&A function, enhancing driver convenience.
