SPSoft announced on the 21st that it will advance its content IP (intellectual property) analysis algorithm and expand its application areas.
The company plans to expand its content IP analysis business to webtoons, web novels, and OTT (over-the-top) services, targeting the OSMU (One Source Multi-Use) market. SPSoft currently supplies solutions that automatically analyze the IP of video content to prevent illegal distribution.
SPSoft is developing a new algorithm capable of analyzing the IP of content composed of text and images. By applying the new algorithm, the company aims to integrate the entire value chain of content IP analysis business across ▲YouTube ▲OTT ▲webtoons ▲photos ▲web novels ▲community boards, according to the company.
SPSoft is conducting its content IP business by securing related core technologies from the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). Through real-time algorithm extraction and generation technology, it has built a vast algorithm database (DB). By comparing the original content with the DB and searching and blocking algorithms, illegal distribution of IP can be prevented. The company is also advancing existing algorithms by incorporating AI (artificial intelligence) technology.
After developing and advancing the new algorithm, SPSoft plans to expand its application to video content in large market sectors such as YouTube and OTT. Based on real-time broadcast content screening and tracking functions, SPSoft has succeeded in securing major terrestrial broadcasters and the leading comprehensive content company in Korea, CJ ENM, as clients. SPSoft’s algorithms are optimized for information extraction and IP distribution tracking, making them suitable for use in real-time online video sectors as well.
An SPSoft representative said, “As the online content market, including webtoons and web novels, has rapidly grown recently, cases of IP infringement have also increased. We will advance SPSoft’s screening algorithms, which were applied in video and music sectors, to build an integrated IP screening solution that can protect all types of content IP.”
He added, “When developing new IP screening algorithms, we can also respond to OSMU, which is a main strategy of game and media content companies, so we expect rapid growth in performance through client expansion and lock-in effects. We will actively utilize the customer references and operational know-how accumulated in the existing video content IP screening business.”
SPSoft recently finalized a merger ratio of 1 to 0.6244146 and is proceeding with a merger with IBKS No.19 SPAC. SPSoft plans to hold a shareholders’ meeting for merger approval on the 22nd and is scheduled to be listed on February 14 next year.
