Hatch Soju, a collaborative brand by Paul Edwards of Gorilla Brewing, Bran Hill of Tokki Soju, and Douglas Park, has been officially launched.
'Hatch' is a legendary creature with scales on its body and horns on its head, known for its ability to distinguish right from wrong, and is said to stab and devour corrupt officials with its horns.
Hatch Soju adopts the 'Hatch,' a symbol of justice, as its brand identity and presents traditional soju made with nuruk and glutinous rice, unlike most distilled soju on the market that use Japanese-style modified nuruk (koji).
Tokki Soju, which introduced distilled soju to the market in 2019, has been working to popularize distilled soju, including participating in the development process of Wonsoju launched by singer Jay Park. As a result, Hatch Soju was launched based on solutions to the high cost of nuruk and quality control issues.
The three founders of Hatch?Paul Edwards, Bran Hill, and Douglas Park?have created a 'pure' soju free of impurities at a reasonable price, leveraging their extensive expertise and experience in alcohol production.
Paul Edwards, originally from the UK, co-founded Gorilla Brewing and Galmegi Brewing, and has presented sensory and creative beer recipes.
Bran Hill, founder and master distiller of Tokki Soju, has over 20 years of experience in brewing and distilling, having worked in breweries since he was 19 years old.
Douglas Park, who worked at McKinsey & Company and Samsung Electronics as an expert in corporate strategy and marketing, has proven his business capabilities by serving as CEO of Tokki Soju for the past five years, achieving a 90% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
Douglas Park of Hatch Soju stated, “We developed Hatch Soju to offer traditional soju based on rice and nuruk at a reasonable price without compromising quality,” adding, “We will avoid deception and exaggerated marketing while continuing to compete with global distilled spirits.”
