Visit to GS Caltex Busan Logistics Center, a Fire-Vulnerable Facility, at 1:40 PM on the 21st
'Winter Large-Scale Fire Response Public-Private Joint Fire Drill,' Safety Management Status Inspection
Mayor Park Hyung-jun of Busan will personally visit the site to create a 'safe' city Busan where people would want to live again.
On the 21st at 1:40 PM, Mayor Park will visit the GS Caltex Busan Logistics Center (located in Nam-gu), a fire-vulnerable facility, to directly inspect winter fire safety management, including the 'Winter Large-scale Fire Response Joint Civil-Government Fire Drill.'
This site visit was arranged to proactively check the fire safety management status of densely populated facilities with a high risk of large-scale fires during winter, as well as the disaster response system of related agencies.
It is also part of the 'Special Inspection for Large-scale Fire Response in Densely Populated Facilities during Winter,' jointly conducted by the city, Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and other relevant agencies throughout December.
Upon arriving at the GS Caltex Busan Logistics Center, Mayor Park will check the progress of the fire drill and inspect the disaster response system of related agencies.
He will also receive a situation report from the Chief of the Southern Fire Station, review the drill site together with the Director of the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and personally preside over a situation assessment meeting to oversee the responses of related agencies according to the drill situation.
The fire drill simulates a fire caused by a vapor explosion during outdoor storage tank pipeline maintenance, proceeding in the order of ▲ initial response by the GS Caltex self-defense fire brigade and emergency rescue activities by the fire brigade ▲ activation of the emergency rescue control team ▲ situation assessment meeting ▲ comprehensive water spraying (full-scale response) ▲ complete extinguishment (end of drill).
About 25 fire trucks and approximately 130 personnel, including GS Caltex self-defense fire brigade members, are expected to participate.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “I am confident that if the civil-government disaster response system is organically established and promptly activated, we can safely protect the citizens of Busan from large-scale disasters.” He emphasized, “Our city will continue to monitor fire and safety management status and strengthen on-site administration so that Busan citizens can enjoy safer lives from various disasters, creating a safe city Busan where every citizen is happy and would want to live again.”
