After the awards ceremony, a solo exhibition by the 31st main award winner, artist Park Bong-gi, was held. Park attracted attention by installing a work titled "Breath," featuring bamboo, in the exhibition room and explained the purpose and content of the piece. The Park solo exhibition will be held at Exhibition Room 4 of Seongsan Art Hall until the 25th.
Deputy Mayor Jo Myeong-rae stated, “We will continue to provide support until the Dongseo Art Awards become recognized as the most prestigious art awards in South Korea.”
Meanwhile, the Dongseo Art Awards were established in 1990 by the late curator Song In-sik of Masan Dongseo Gallery, who donated 100 million won of his private funds, making it the first private art award in the province. Having started during the golden age of local culture in 1990, the Dongseo Art Awards are now in their 32nd year. After being privately operated for 30 years, the awards have been presented by Changwon City since 2022 to honor curator Song’s achievements and to create a creative environment for talented artists.
