Kakao Entertainment's webtoon "Seonsan" is being produced as a Netflix series "Seonsan" and will be released worldwide.

The webtoon "Seonsan," serialized on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon, is the latest work by director Yeon Sang-ho, who produced films such as "Train to Busan" and "Hellbound." "Seonsan" is a mystery crime thriller that depicts the protagonist Yoon Seo-ha, who inherits Seonsan after receiving sudden news of the death of his estranged uncle, approaching the shocking truth about Seonsan and his family history.

The webtoon "Seonsan" is based on the original plan written by director Yeon Sang-ho, with the script by Kang Tae-kyung, the writer of "Sacred Divorce," and illustrations by Jo Noon and Lido, the artists of "Ornithophobia."

Since its debut as PART 1 on November 27, the webtoon "Seonsan" has consistently ranked high in the weekly serialization on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon up to the current point where PART 1 has ended. In PART 2, which will be released alongside the Netflix series on January 19 next year, the foreshadowing laid out in the first half will be revealed, and the hidden truths of Seonsan and Yoon Seo-ha’s family history will be uncovered, bringing the narrative to its climax.

The Netflix series "Seonsan," based on Kakao Entertainment's webtoon, stars actress Kim Hyun-joo as Yoon Seo-ha, who also played the lead role in director Yeon Sang-ho’s previous work "Hellbound." Actor Park Hee-soon appears as detective Choi Sung-joon, who investigates suspicious deaths and ominous incidents around Yoon Seo-ha. Additionally, Park Byung-eun will play Park Sang-min, Sung-joon’s junior and team leader, and Ryu Kyung-soo will portray Kim Young-ho, Yoon Seo-ha’s half-brother.

Director Yeon Sang-ho stated, "Seonsan started with the word 'family.' Family can be a love that transcends everything, something more blind than religion, or it can be crueler than strangers. I wanted to compose this complex emotion into a mystery crime thriller story to provide readers with genre pleasure, while also making them ask the question 'What is family?' as they follow the process of tracking down the culprit of a bizarre serial murder case."
