Gangnam Doctor Arrested for Providing Drugs to Lee Seon-gyun... "Fear of Evidence Tampering"

A plastic surgeon in Gangnam has been arrested on charges of providing drugs to actor Lee Seon-gyun (48) through a manager of an entertainment bar. The Metropolitan Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 21st that plastic surgeon A (42) was arrested on charges including stimulant drugs under the Narcotics Control Act.

Kim Seong-su, the chief judge in charge of warrants at the Incheon District Court, conducted a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review) of A the previous afternoon and issued an arrest warrant, stating there was a risk of flight or evidence destruction. A is suspected of providing drugs to Lee and others through B (29, female), a manager of a Gangnam entertainment establishment.

The police had previously applied for A’s arrest warrant last month, but the court dismissed it at the time, stating "it is difficult to recognize the necessity of detention." After supplementary investigations, the police reportedly added charges of drug use by A himself to the warrant.

There have been suspicions that A administered or provided propofol and methamphetamine to patients as well, but the police stated that the facts have not yet been confirmed. A had gained public recognition in the past by appearing on a health program on a comprehensive programming channel.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency has investigated or is investigating a total of 10 people, including A and actor Lee, on drug-related charges. Among them, singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong) was recently cleared of charges and not prosecuted.
