Dobong-gu Takes Measures to Ensure Senior Safety Amid Continued Subzero Temperatures

Dobong-gu Strengthens Customized Care Services for Seniors Amid Severe Cold Wave O Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, is visiting the homes of elderly people vulnerable to cold waves to check on their well-being.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it will implement winter protection measures for elderly recipients of the Senior Customized Care Service.

The district plans to strengthen welfare checks and provide support for mobility, activities, and supplies to low-income and vulnerable elderly individuals when cold wave and heavy snow warnings are issued, through the Senior Customized Care Service providers in each zone.

In particular, the usual once-a-week visits and twice-a-week phone checks will be intensified to every other day during cold wave and heavy snow warnings.

Additionally, the service providers will identify and closely manage vulnerable individuals such as those with underlying conditions and the elderly, conduct inspections of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and provide education on winter health management, cold wave shelter guidance, and cold wave preparedness through social workers and life support workers.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, urged, “Since special attention is required for the health management of the elderly during winter, the Senior Customized Care Service agencies should thoroughly conduct welfare checks to ensure that the elderly can safely get through the winter.”
