Han Jae-cheon, Chairman of the Gyeongnam Sacheon City Facilities Management Corporation, received the Grand Prize in the Innovation Management category at the ‘12th 2024 Korea CEO Leadership Awards’ ceremony held on the 20th at the Diamond Hall of The Plaza Hotel in Seoul.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and hosted by JoongAng Ilbo, the ‘Korea CEO Leadership Awards’ honors CEOs in Korea who have presented new paradigms through creative leadership and practiced innovative management.

Chairman Han was recognized for leading the revitalization of the local economy proactively, including surpassing 3 million cumulative passengers on the Sacheon Sea Cable Car through continuous management innovation after the COVID-19 crisis.

He also successfully settled the management and operation of the Sacheon Aerospace National Private Sports Center, newly entrusted from the city, greatly contributing to the realization of the 8th elected administration’s city governance slogan, ‘A New Start, Happy City Sacheon.’

Furthermore, to dispel the stigma of ‘reckless management of public institutions,’ he established various institutional measures for systematic profit generation based on the principle of harmoniously creating public interest and profitability.

In particular, he innovatively improved the chronic problem of burner ignition failure at the sewage sludge treatment facility, saving an annual budget of 70 million KRW and contributing to energy self-sufficiency, thereby establishing a new management paradigm.

Chairman Han said, “I am grateful for the high recognition of the efforts I have quietly made with the single determination to do my best to fulfill our social responsibility as a public enterprise that prioritizes safety,” adding, “I will continue to lead the future value of the corporation by providing high-quality public services for the development of Sacheon City and its citizens.”

Meanwhile, the Sacheon City Facilities Management Corporation demonstrated its strength by winning the Encouragement Award, ranking 8th among 410 local public enterprises nationwide at the ‘Local Public Enterprise Best Practice Competition’ hosted by the National Association of City, County, and District Local Public Enterprises in September.
