HJ Heavy Industries Publishes First 'Sustainability Management Report'

First Report Published Covering ESG Performance, Vision, and Strategy

Annual Publication Planned to Enhance Trust in ESG Management

HJ Heavy Industries published its ‘2023 Sustainability Management Report’ and made it available on its official website.

This is the first time the company has issued such a report, reflecting the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international organization that provides guidelines for sustainability management, as well as the principles of ISO26000 (Social Responsibility of Organizations).

HJ Heavy Industries structured the sustainability management report around the company’s current status and ESG strategies, followed by Environment (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) sections. The ESG management slogan, ‘Beyond Into Green, Beyond Into Great,’ was established to faithfully present strategies and implementation status for eco-friendly management, social responsibility, and governance improvement.

In the foreword, the company stated, “HJ Heavy Industries is preparing for a new era to leap forward once again as a global market leader,” and added, “All employees will dedicate themselves to creating sustainable value to transform into a great, eco-friendly company beyond our current position.”

In October of this year, HJ Heavy Industries received an overall ‘B+’ rating in the ESG evaluation conducted by the Korea ESG Standards Institute, with grades of B in Environment, B+ in Social, and B+ in Governance. This marks an improvement from last year’s overall ‘B’ rating, reflecting the company’s consistent commitment to ESG and responsible management.

Starting with this inaugural publication, HJ Heavy Industries plans to publish the Sustainability Management Report annually to proactively respond to the increasing demands from investors and stakeholders for ESG information disclosure and the mandatory reporting of sustainability information. Furthermore, the company intends to continue contributing to the creation of sustainable value through transparent information disclosure and strengthening ESG management activities.
