Verification of TSS Effectiveness for a Total of 11 Terminal Operators and Transport Companies
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) held an awards ceremony on the 19th to recognize four outstanding companies that actively participated in the activation of the integrated port logistics platform (Chain Portal).
At the end of last year, Busan Port Authority conducted the first pilot operation targeting three new terminal operators and two transportation companies, and from July to September this year, the second pilot operation was carried out with the participation of five terminal operators and six transportation companies.
An awards ceremony is being held for outstanding participants in the Chain Portal transshipment transportation system.
As a result, through the group order function of the Transshipment Transportation System (TSS), the waiting time for vehicles within the terminal was reduced by approximately 25%, and the load consolidation rate, which improves cargo transportation efficiency, increased 2.9 times compared to before (from 12.8% to 36.6%).
Also, the time taken for truck drivers from entering the terminal to completing cargo operations (Truck Turntime) was reduced by 46.4% compared to the Busan Port average (from 22.6 minutes to 12.1 minutes).
At the awards ceremony, activation support funds were provided to the top two companies with excellent participation performance in each sector during the second pilot operation period.
In the terminal operator category, HMM PSA New Port Terminal (HPNT) and Hanjin Busan Container Terminal (HJNC) ranked first and second respectively, while in the transportation company category, Lotte Global Logistics took first place and Hanjin Co., Ltd. came in second.
BPA President Kang Jun-seok said, “The effects of the integrated port logistics platform, such as reduced vehicle waiting times and alleviation of port congestion, were verified during the second pilot operation. We will promote policies that encourage active participation from Busan Port users so that more stakeholders can experience the benefits of using the system.”
