SK D&D Signs EPC Contract for Uiseong Hwanghaksan Wind Power Plant

SK D&D announced on the 19th that it has signed a contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project of the Uiseong Hwanghaksan Wind Power Plant.

Through the special purpose company (SPC) 'Uiseong Hwanghaksan Wind Power,' jointly established with financial investors, SK D&D is developing a wind power plant with a capacity of 99MW on a site of 230,000㎡ (approximately 70,000 pyeong) around Hwanghaksan in Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The total construction cost is about 206.5 billion KRW, with SK D&D's stake amounting to approximately 121 billion KRW, representing 58.6% ownership.

The Uiseong Hwanghaksan Wind Power Plant is scheduled to begin construction at the end of this month, aiming for commercial operation in the first half of 2026. SK D&D will be responsible for the overall project management, including plant design, commissioning, and equipment procurement, while other consortium members will handle civil engineering, electrical work, and transmission line construction.

Fifteen 6.6MW wind turbines and one substation will be installed, producing approximately 146,000 MWh of electricity annually. This amount of power is enough to supply about 40,000 households for one year.

SK D&D is advancing wind power projects from development and investment to construction and operation. It currently operates onshore wind farms totaling 83MW, including 30MW at Gasi-ri, Jeju, and 53MW at Hyeonjongsan, Uljin. Including the 75MW Gunwi-Uiseong Pungbaek and 99MW Uiseong Hwanghaksan projects under construction since July last year, the company will have a cumulative capacity of 257MW, making it the largest private wind power operator in Korea.

Additionally, SK D&D is developing offshore wind power projects totaling 1.2GW, including 390MW at Sinan Ui, Jeollanam-do, and 240MW at Gulupdo, Incheon.

Kim Hae-jung, Head of SK D&D Energy Solutions Division, stated, "By advancing large-scale wind power projects, we will further solidify our position as a top-tier 'Green Energy Solution Provider' in Korea. We will continue to expand renewable energy sources in line with the energy transition era to create a sustainable future for humanity and the planet."
