Film company Jinjin announced on the 20th that the new film by Ken Loach, the master loved by the Cannes Film Festival, titled 'My Old Oak,' will be released on January 17 next year.
'My Old Oak' is the third film in director Ken Loach's trilogy following 'I, Daniel Blake' (2016) and 'Sorry We Missed You' (2019). It depicts the special friendship between TJ, who runs an old pub in a former mining village in the northeast of England, and Yara, a stranger girl who comes to the village. It is known as the last feature film directed by Ken Loach, who has won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival twice.
Director Lee Joon-ik recommended 'My Old Oak' through the distributor. He said, "Ken Loach is a director who has consistently made films about the powerless and the dispossessed living their lives with dignity as members of society," and added, "In a world where it is hard enough to survive alone, this film shows why neighbors who ask 'Are you okay?' are necessary, and it gives strength and courage in a harsh and difficult world."
