Sogangseok, Songpa District Mayor, Takes Warm Steps Ahead of Year-End

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa District, took warm steps at the end of the year on the 19th by visiting underprivileged groups, checking on residents' health, and listening to their difficulties amid the ongoing severe cold wave.

Since his inauguration, Mayor Seo has prioritized honoring residents who have devoted themselves to the socially vulnerable and the national and social community as the top priority of district administration, striving to practice inclusive welfare. To this end, measures such as ▲increasing veterans' allowances ▲establishing consolation payments for Korean War veterans ▲providing living assistance allowances for low-income elderly living alone are being implemented.

On this day, Mayor Seo's first schedule was to visit Korean War veterans and Vietnam War veterans. He expressed gratitude for their sacrifices for the country and carefully checked the health conditions of elderly national veterans amid the cold wave.

He then visited ‘Dodam House,’ a welfare facility for single-parent families, where he met with single mothers and their children. He comforted the emotionally and physically struggling single mothers and encouraged their independence.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the facility workers who care for single mothers with affectionate attention.

Finally, he visited ‘Yesung’s House,’ a group home child protection facility. This is a child welfare facility where children and adolescents who have difficulty being protected at home live together with peers to form a new family community. There are a total of six group homes in Songpa District.

At this place, Mayor Seo encouraged the protected children to grow up bright and healthy and had a communication session listening to the difficulties and challenges faced by the facility workers.

In addition, the district delivered winter clothing as part of the ‘2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign’ donations to 40 children in 29 households under foster care to help them spend this winter warmly.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa District, said, “The end of the year is a time when loneliness grows stronger, so more careful attention is needed to ensure that residents in difficult situations are not left out,” adding, “We will continue to carry out delicate and warm administration to create a Songpa District where everyone can live safely and happily without exclusion. I also ask residents to show much interest and love to neighbors who are marginalized this winter.”
