LG CNS is strengthening the cultivation of advanced talent in artificial intelligence (AI) and data.
LG CNS announced on the 20th that it will recruit the first batch of new master's students for the ‘AI Data Science Department’ at Korea University Graduate School of Convergence Data Science from the 3rd to the 11th of next month.
This recruitment process is an LG CNS hiring-linked program designed to nurture and secure talent specialized in AI and data in collaboration with Korea University. Last September, LG CNS signed an industry-academia cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea University and established the ‘AI Data Science Department,’ a hiring-linked contract department, at the Korea University Graduate School of Convergence Data Science.
The master's program recruitment for the AI Data Science Department is open to all majors, and anyone who wishes to grow into an elite expert in AI and data can apply. Applicants with research experience or work experience in AI and data fields are given preference.
LG CNS plans to select more than 20 graduate students for the AI Data Science Department annually. Final candidates will be selected through document screening and interviews. Full tuition and living expenses will be provided to the final successful applicants, and employment at LG CNS is guaranteed upon obtaining the master's degree.
LG CNS and Korea University jointly developed the AI Data Science Department curriculum. The curriculum consists of ▲mathematical foundations and programming for data science ▲natural language processing and text data analysis ▲understanding and application of large-scale generative AI ▲AI case studies, among others.
The classes will be jointly conducted by professors from the Korea University Graduate School of Convergence Data Science and elite experts including LG CNS’s AI and data analysis research and professional committee members. LG CNS and Korea University aim to cultivate practical talents who can be immediately deployed in the field without additional job training after graduation by providing intensive education over approximately 1 year and 6 months (3 semesters).
Earlier in June, LG CNS also established a master's program in ‘Security Engineering’ at Chung-Ang University Graduate School of Security to cultivate internal employees into global-level security experts. The first batch of final successful candidates, selected through an internal verification process in September, are scheduled to begin their education at Chung-Ang University from March next year. As a result, LG CNS now operates master's programs related to AI and data at Korea University and security at Chung-Ang University.
Up to this year, LG CNS has been conducting industry-academia cooperation in various new technology fields such as ▲AI ▲data ▲smart factory ▲security with 12 universities nationwide, including Seoul National University, KAIST, and Chung-Ang University.
In the second half of this year, LG CNS conducted a software hiring-linked internship by receiving recommendations of outstanding students from Korea University. Using in-house DX elite experts, about seven weeks of job-customized training was provided to the students, who were then placed as new employees in operational departments. Going forward, LG CNS plans to promote more ‘hiring-linked internship’ programs targeting university and graduate students. Through this, LG CNS will proactively nurture and secure DX talent while strengthening mutual growth with universities.
LG CNS also provides AI and data education for its employees. Since 2021, it has been operating the ‘AI Consultant Course’ for employees at Korea University Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence, now in its fourth cohort. The number of professional AI consultants produced through this course has reached 100. In addition, LG CNS offers more than 30 in-house online and offline advanced training programs and various external education opportunities, including ▲Data Analysis Challenge Workshops ▲One-day Machine Learning Courses ▲ChatGPT Courses for Developers ▲AI Coding Practice, among others.
Ko Young-mok, LG CNS Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO), said, “To strengthen DX business competitiveness and lead the market, securing talent with technical capabilities and industry expertise is essential,” and emphasized, “We will continue to strengthen industry-academia cooperation with domestic universities to secure outstanding DX talent.”
