Professor Kim Jeonghwan of the Department of Human ICT Convergence at Pukyong National University was selected as a contributor to the development of the data industry and received a commendation from the Mayor of Busan.

Professor Kim received the commendation on the 14th at the ‘2023 Busan Big Data Innovation Center Performance Report Meeting’ held at the Busan Big Data Innovation Center for his contributions to fostering the data industry in Busan.
This event was held to share the achievements and key results of projects operated by the Busan Big Data Innovation Center throughout the year. Professor Kim was highly praised for his contributions to fostering Busan’s data industry through discovering various cases using big data and proposing policy ideas. After receiving the award, Professor Kim also gave a presentation on the ‘Open Lab Data Utilization Policy Idea Discovery Achievements.’
Professor Kim established Datory Lab and has been producing the annual casebook titled ‘Busan Viewed Through Big Data’ with undergraduate and graduate students.
This year marks the production of the third casebook, and the cases planned so far have been produced as news content diagnosing community issues and proposing solutions in collaboration with local media, and have been reported.
Professor Kim Jeonghwan said, “I will continue to discover various cases based on public and private data in the region to make Busan healthier and strive to apply them to policy fields.”
