19 Original Works Selected: Diverse Award-Winning Designs Applied to Construction Sites
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) held the "Temporary Fence Design Contest" to improve the scenery around construction sites in the area and held an awards ceremony on the 14th.
A total of 19 works were finally selected.
The "Dongjak-gu Temporary Fence Design Contest" was promoted to reflect the fresh and artistic ideas of not only residents but also many people on the temporary fences installed at construction sites on the streets.
This contest was open to anyone aged 19 or older with the theme of using the word "Dongjak" and expressing the charm of Dongjak-gu, and a total of 93 works were submitted.
The district selected 19 teams in total through the evaluation of design experts: 1 grand prize team, 2 excellence award teams, 6 merit award teams, and 10 encouragement award teams, and plans to award a total prize money of 20 million won.
The grand prize winner, Lee Seung-hoon, introduced the work titled "Dongjakguman!" by visualizing Dongjak-gu’s cultural assets and symbols in abstract and illustration forms using colors representing Dongjak.
Lee Seung-hoon said, "I included the hope that people pause and stay for a moment while recalling the cultural assets and symbols representing Dongjak-gu," adding, "I enhanced visibility with the drawings and provided information that increases accessibility by attaching brief explanations and addresses."
Starting next year, the district plans to apply the diverse designs of the award-winning works to the temporary fences at construction sites in the area, transforming construction sites into bright and lively urban spaces.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, "I thank all participants who put thought into their ideas and submitted excellent works for this contest," and added, "We will do our best to create a pleasant walking environment and a safe living environment for residents."
