The advanced course, which started in September, consisted of a total of 78 hours over 13 weeks, covering theory and practice in garden planning, design, creation, and management.

They also visited the rooftop garden of the government Sejong complex, one of the world's largest, and the National Sejong Botanical Garden to broaden their perspectives on modern garden creation and management.

In particular, during the 2023 Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo and the 23rd Sancheong Herbal Medicine Festival, they created gardens within the festival grounds and volunteered their talents for voluntary maintenance and local promotion, receiving great acclaim.

Sancheong-gun educated 24 people in the basic course and 22 in the advanced course through this year’s ‘1st Citizen Gardener Training Program’.

The citizen gardener training program, held for the first time this year, was very successful, with many applicants leading to an increase in the number of participants.

As residents’ interest in garden creation and management grows, Sancheong-gun plans to continue the citizen gardener training program next year as well.

An official from the county said, “We expect this training to greatly contribute to improving residents’ awareness of garden creation and management, spreading garden culture around their daily lives, and enhancing the quality of life for our citizens.”
