From December 22, Songpa-gu Museum Exhibition Experience Program for Children and Families Begins
Official Certificate Provided Upon Collecting Stamps from 7 Museums
Diverse Cultural Experiences Including Art, History, Archaeology, Folklore, and Advertising
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will hold the “Songpa-gu Museum Outing,” a program for the whole family to enjoy together, from December 22 to February 25 next year in collaboration with seven museums in the area during the winter vacation.
The “Songpa-gu Museum Outing” is an exhibition and experience program operated every vacation through cooperation among museums located in Songpa-gu.
This winter vacation, seven museums are participating: ▲ Lotte World Folk Museum ▲ Cultural Experiment Space Hosu ▲ SOMA Museum of Art ▲ Songpa-gu Yesong Art Museum ▲ Songpa Book Museum ▲ Hanseong Baekje Museum ▲ Korea Advertising Museum.
The Songpa-gu Museum Outing is operated in a stamp tour format. Each museum offers exhibitions on different themes such as history, art, and advertising, making it even more enriching. Programs that highlight the characteristics of each museum are currently running, such as Lotte World Folk Museum’s “Lively! One-day History Experience at the Living Museum” and Songpa Book Museum’s “Welcome to Joseon.”
To participate, visitors must bring the “Appreciation Activity Sheet,” which is used as a leaflet and educational material at the seven museums, participate in each museum’s program, and receive a confirmation stamp. Upon completing all, regardless of the order of visits, an official certificate of completion is provided at the last museum. This certificate can later be recognized as a winter vacation assignment for school.
In particular, to celebrate the 30th event of the “Songpa-gu Museum Outing,” a hands-on kit event has been prepared. Among applicants, 30 people will be selected by lottery to receive experience kits tailored to the exhibition content of each museum. These include ▲ Cultural Experiment Space Hosu - Christmas Ornament ▲ SOMA Museum of Art - Graffiti Art ▲ Songpa Book Museum - Paper Flower ▲ Hanseong Baekje Museum - Making Chiljido (Seven-branched Sword). Applications can be submitted from the 18th through the Seoul Public Reservation System.
Since the schedules for planned exhibitions and experience activities vary by museum, checking the website before visiting is essential.
Meanwhile, cultural exhibition spaces for local residents are being further expanded in Songpa-gu. In 2024, Mongchoneok History Hall located within Olympic Park will complete remodeling and present new exhibitions, and the National Sports Museum, Korea’s first sports history museum, is scheduled to open in 2026.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I hope many children visit Songpa-gu museums to experience diverse cultures such as history, archaeology, folklore, and art, and have a meaningful vacation,” adding, “We will continue to discover unique special exhibitions and programs in connection with related facilities throughout Songpa-gu to expand opportunities for distinctive cultural experiences.”
