[Featured Stock] RS Auto Develops Core Future Robot Technology for the First Time... Reduces Power Consumption by 90%

RS Automation, a company specializing in robot motion control, is showing strong performance. The news of successfully developing an ultra-compact precision capacitive encoder and moving towards full-scale commercialization appears to be influencing its stock price.

As of 9:27 AM on the 18th, RS Automation is trading at 15,640 KRW, up 23.54% compared to the previous trading day.

A company representative stated, "The commercialization of the ultra-compact capacitive encoder is the first in Korea following optical types and the second in the world after Israel. We take pride in opening the path for domestic production of ultra-compact core components that can be applied to collaborative robots, humanoids, mobile robots, medical robots, drones, and guided weapons."

The capacitive encoder is a high value-added component that measures ultra-precise angles and linear positions using the capacitive method. It is an ultra-compact product with a thickness of 7 millimeters (mm), weight of 10 grams (g), and resolution of 19 bits (bit), which is about 20-30% the size of a typical encoder. Compared to general encoders, it consumes only about 10% of the power, making it suitable for premium mobile robots and ultra-compact drones where low power consumption is essential.

The capacitive encoder, which exhibits excellent resistance to vibration, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and radio frequency interference (RFI), is known to have been used in Israel's Iron Dome, making it an essential component in defense industries such as guided weapons. RS Automation is already conducting tests applying it to collaborative robots along with domestically produced smart actuators for use in guided weapons and other applications.

RS Automation anticipates a significant increase in demand for sensing technology of capacitive encoders as robot technology and automation systems become increasingly complex and precise. To this end, the company plans to apply its products in various future advanced fields requiring precision measurement, including industrial sites where robotics and automation are progressing, medical and scientific fields, mobility, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Kang Deok-hyun, CEO of RS Automation, said, "We have succeeded in developing three types of sensor technologies?optical, magnetic, and capacitive encoders?for the first time in Korea, enabling their use in precision robot motion fields." He added, "With domestically developed technology integrating controllers, drives, and encoders essential for robot motion control, we will meet the future demand of the robot market."
