Daegu Suseong-gu announced on the 18th that Kim Dae-gwon, the head of Suseong-gu, received the 'Freedom Award' presented by the World League Freedom Democracy.
The Freedom Award is given to distinguished individuals from around the world who have contributed to protecting the values of liberal democracy, enhancing residents' happiness and welfare, and promoting world peace.

Jung Young-man, president of the Daegu branch of the Korea Freedom Federation, presented the award on behalf of Yao Eng Chi, president of the World League Freedom Democracy.
Since being first elected as a local government head in the 7th term of direct elections, Kim Dae-gwon actively supported Freedom Federation activities during the 8th term as well, including patriotic security field visits, 6.25 War food demonstration tastings, support for North Korean defectors, and the Taegeukgi flag campaign.
He is also striving to create a differentiated and unique Suseong-gu where residents enjoy a happy life through resident-centered administration that communicates and harmonizes with all sectors of society.
Kim Dae-gwon, head of Daegu Suseong-gu, said, “I accept this Freedom Award as a call to further strengthen the firm foundation of South Korea’s liberal democratic order, and I will work harder to raise residents’ security awareness and promote regional development.”
