Jongno-gu to Hold Public Hearing on the 19th for the Establishment of Jongno Welfare Foundation... Sharing Progress and Feasibility Review Results, Keynote Presentations, Panel Discussions, and Resident Feedback... Mayor Jeong Munheon Expects the Foundation to Flexibly Respond to Increasing Welfare Needs and Enhance Residents' Quality of Life

Jongno-gu (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will hold a 'Resident Public Hearing for the Establishment of the Jongno Welfare Foundation' at 3 p.m. on the 19th in the education hall on the 12th floor of the district office building.

This is to share the progress of promoting the establishment of the Jongno Welfare Foundation and the results of the feasibility study, and to gather opinions from experts and residents evenly.

Additionally, under the theme of 'The Role and Direction of Local Welfare Foundations,' a keynote presentation will be given by Kim Sangcheol, CEO of the Seoul Welfare Foundation (Professor of Social Welfare at Hansei University), followed by a panel discussion. The public hearing is open to any residents interested.

Meanwhile, Jongno-gu has been promoting the establishment of the foundation to flexibly respond to the rapidly changing welfare environment, supplement the insufficient welfare infrastructure in the district through integrated fundraising and resource linkage, and provide customized welfare services.

Accordingly, after consultations with Seoul City in November 2022, a basic establishment plan was formulated in March 2023. Subsequently, from June to November 2023, an agreement was signed with the Seoul Public Investment Management Center of the Seoul Institute, a professional institution designated by Seoul City, to conduct a feasibility study on the establishment of the Jongno Welfare Foundation. The results of the study will be disclosed on the district office website until the 19th of this month.

District Mayor Jeong Munheon stated, “We aim to lay the foundation for the establishment of the Jongno Welfare Foundation by collecting various opinions from residents at the public hearing,” and added, “Once the foundation is launched, it is expected to play a significant role in flexibly responding to the increasingly diverse welfare demands and improving the quality of life of residents.”
