Lighting Ceremony at Magok Wish Village, Gangseo-gu, Seoul

Christmas Tree and Landscape Installation at Exit 1 Plaza of Balsan Station

Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, attended the lighting ceremony of the 1st Magok Culture Street Festival, ‘Magok Wish Village,’ held at the plaza in front of Exit 1 of Balsan Station on Subway Line 5 at 6 p.m. on the 15th.

The district held the ‘Magok Wish Village’ event for the first time this year to convey the warmth of Christmas and the year-end to residents and to revitalize Magok Culture Street.

The event began with a performance by the Deokwon Arts High School choir, followed by the lighting ceremony of the Christmas tree and decorative lights.

The theme of the event was ‘Magok, the Village Where Wishes Come True.’ The district decorated the area as an emotional space by installing LED lights, a Christmas tree, antique street lamps, and photo zones. The event runs until the 31st, with lighting hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

To commemorate the lighting ceremony, an event was also prepared. Those who post photos taken on-site along with the mandatory hashtags #MagokCultureStreetFestival and #MagokWishVillage and their New Year’s wishes on Instagram, a social networking service (SNS), will receive a coffee gifticon, limited to the first 100 participants.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “We held the ‘Magok Wish Village’ event for the first time to revitalize Magok Culture Street and to give residents a warm year-end. We hope families, friends, and couples come to make wishes and create good memories together.”

Meanwhile, the district also held a commemorative event for the completion of the ‘Vertical Park’ and ‘Dandelion’ sculptures installed around the Space K Museum in Magok Culture Street. Those who posted photos of the sculptures on SNS received drinks and reusable cups as gifts.
