Gyeongbuk Province conducted a comprehensive evaluation of project performance in various fields such as public design and outdoor advertising across 22 cities and counties, selecting outstanding cities and counties that contributed to the improvement of urban aesthetics.

This year, the city was selected for the ‘2023 International Event Hosting City Public Design Contest’ organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and is carrying out the project with a budget of 1.9 billion KRW (950 million KRW in national funds). The city received high marks for its efforts to enhance urban landscapes through multiple public design projects, including the nighttime landscape improvement project around Geumocheon Stream.

Next year, the city plans to further accelerate its efforts to create an attractive Gumi by promoting numerous landscape design projects such as the Gumi IC Entrance Gateway Symbolic Sculpture Project, Sanho Bridge Nighttime Landscape Project, and the second phase of the International Event Hosting City Public Design Project.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Building on this Excellence Award, we will continue to design Gumi in a distinctive and innovative way to make it a city people want to visit.”
