On the 15th, former Dobong District Mayor Lee Dong-jin held a press conference at his preliminary candidate election office and officially announced his candidacy for the 22nd National Assembly election, expressing his ambition to dedicate himself to the completion of a greater Dobong and better politics.
At the press conference, preliminary candidate Lee Dong-jin released a declaration titled "I will properly serve as a National Assembly member with proven competence," emphasizing his achievements during his 12 years in office over three terms, including attracting the Seoul Arena, the GTX-C line, and the extension of the SRT line stopping at Changdong Station, and he self-assessed that he transformed Dobong District into a city filled with new expectations and hopes.
He also highlighted various pioneering cases implemented first nationwide in Dobong District, such as the Basic Ordinance on Resident Participation, the Basic Ordinance on Public-Private Cooperation, the Basic Ordinance on Carbon Neutrality, the introduction of the Employment Inspector System, and the Gender Specialist System, emphasizing efforts to realize public values beyond conventional administration.
Furthermore, he pointed out the domestic and international city certifications acquired by Dobong District, including Women-Friendly City, Lifelong Learning City, Child-Friendly City (UNICEF), Sustainable Development Education Hub City (UN University), Age-Friendly City (WHO), and Global Learning City (UNESCO), as well as Dobong’s response to carbon neutrality and climate change, citing the district’s achievement of the first A grade in Korea from the international organization CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), underscoring the accomplishments to date.
Preliminary candidate Lee Dong-jin stated that his leadership has been recognized through activities that transcend regional limitations during his tenure, citing his roles as chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan District Mayors’ Council, chairman of the Democratic Party’s National Council of Basic Local Governments, chairman of the Sustainable Development Local Governments Council, chairman of the Korean Human Rights Cities Council, chairman of the Child-Friendly Cities Promotion Local Governments Council, and chairman of the Innovative Education Local Governments Council, among various other fields.
In his declaration of candidacy, Lee Dong-jin expressed his determination to complete a greater Dobong by ensuring the smooth progress of projects such as the Seoul Arena, the GTX-C line, and the SRT extension stopping at Changdong Station, which he has devoted over ten years of wholehearted effort to achieve, aiming to make Dobong District the center of performing arts culture and metropolitan transportation in Korea. Furthermore, he pledged to change Korean politics with proven competence and leadership, asking for the warm encouragement and support of the district residents.
