Dobong-gu Jungnangcheon Embankment Path Safe to Walk Late at Night

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has newly upgraded the lighting along the embankment path of Jungnangcheon Stream to ensure that residents can safely take walks even at night.

The district announced that it started upgrading the security lights in June this year and completed the work by the end of November, establishing a safe walking path.

The newly installed lighting covers the entire 2km section of the Jungnangcheon embankment path from Nowon Bridge to Sanggye Bridge. To achieve uniform illumination and reduce light pollution, the spacing between security lights was reduced from 50m to 25m, and the light source was adjusted from LED 100W to 50W.

A district official stated, “We expect that securing night vision even late at night will help prevent safety accidents.”

For energy savings, during hours when the number of walkers decreases?from midnight until lights are turned off?the dimming function of the security lights is utilized to reduce brightness by 20%.

Additionally, public Wi-Fi communication equipment and insect traps, which had been scattered, were integrated seamlessly into the security light poles to improve the cityscape.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “With the barefoot walking trend and more residents using the Jungnangcheon embankment path than in previous years, we will pay close attention to ensure there are no inconveniences for the many visitors and create a pleasant and safe walking environment.”
