Jeonnam Future Education Foundation Builds 'Glocal Future Education Platform'

New Scholarship Program 'Dream Realization Fund' Launched

The Jeonnam Future Education Foundation plans to operate a ‘Glocal Future Education Platform’ through the Jeonnam-type future talent development project and the establishment of a local education ecosystem.

On the 14th, the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation held a ‘Jeonnam Future Education Foundation Roadmap Briefing’ at the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education press room, announcing the foundation’s three key strategic initiatives and development tasks: future talent development, local education ecosystem establishment, and glocal education.

To this end, the foundation will change the term for scholarships to ‘Dream Realization Fund’ and promote a new scholarship project that supports students’ dreams from a long-term project perspective, including operating a camp called ‘Dream Realization Life School’ for selected students.

The ‘Dream Realization Fund’ will be operated in 12 categories such as environmental ecology practice, idea startup support, and teacher-student mentoring. Students will use the fund according to plans they design themselves during the ‘Dream Realization Life School’ camp held during vacations.

As tasks for future talent development, the foundation proposed creating the ‘Dream Realization Fund’ through spreading a culture of donations, establishing a fair and transparent management support system, and building a shared scholarship project system by region.

For establishing the local education ecosystem, the foundation set tasks such as creating a local community manpower pool to support school education, operating an educational autonomy platform connecting schools and the community, and serving as a community platform for care support. In the mid to long term, it plans to act as a ‘regional intermediary support organization control tower.’

The foundation will actively cooperate with school education professionals to operate a volunteer center utilizing the expertise of retired teachers and further promote glocal education projects that nurture local talents into global talents.

In particular, it will focus on building a foundation for nurturing local talents by linking with region-specific industries to support growth, employment, and settlement in the region, and expand international exchange projects connected with local education and overseas private organizations such as the ‘World Honam Association’ to establish the role of the glocal education platform.

Additionally, the foundation will operate the Jeonnam Student Diplomatic Corps, which will be in charge of promotion and guidance at the ‘2024 Korea Glocal Future Education Expo’ to be held in May next year, and carry out a joint project called ‘J-COP’ with overseas youth. Furthermore, it plans to promote the intercultural exchange project ‘Glocal Sarangbang’ and operate the Jeonnam International Study Center in the mid to long term.

Director Lee Gil-hoon emphasized, “To nurture talents required by future society, a paradigm shift in scholarship projects is necessary,” adding, “We will move away from one-time scholarships for academically excellent students and support all children in Jeonnam to develop self-directed competencies in various fields.”

He continued, “We take the first step with a heavy responsibility to nurture Jeonnam’s future talents and establish a sustainable local education ecosystem,” and pledged, “We will do our best to contribute to the ‘Jeonnam Education Great Transformation’ as a platform connecting the future of schools and the region.”
