Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation Produces 554 Skilled Construction Workers This Year

Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation Produces 554 Skilled Construction Workers This Year Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation produced a total of 554 graduates this year through skilled construction workforce training.

The Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation produced 554 skilled construction workers this year. Among them, 313 succeeded in finding employment.

On the 13th, the Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation held a meeting with representatives from training institutions participating in the ‘Skilled Construction Workforce Training and Employment Support’ project at the Gyeonggi-do Technical School within the foundation to share these achievements.

The meeting was attended by about 40 people, including staff from training institutions and foundation executives, and proceeded with a report on this year’s project results, awards for five outstanding and excellent training institutions, presentations of best practices, and suggestions for project improvements.

At the meeting, the foundation listened to the on-site voices of the participating training institutions and exchanged various opinions on proposals for continuous achievement of the project.

In response to the shortage of construction workers in the province and the need to expand the supply of skilled domestic laborers, this project, which started in 2019, involved 16 private training institutions in 10 cities and counties this year, providing education and training to Gyeonggi-do residents aged 18 and older who wish to find employment in the construction field.

From April to November this year, the foundation conducted training at these institutions, with 554 people completing the courses. Among them, 313 are currently employed.

The training courses included seven fields: tile setting, architectural carpentry, painting, waterproofing, formwork carpentry, construction welding, and piping. Trainees were also given opportunities to gain work experience and boost confidence in employment through on-site practical training after course completion.

Kim Sun-young, Head of the Foundation’s Convergence Talent Division, stated, "To resolve various issues such as labor shortages at construction sites, the increasing number of foreign workers, and safety accidents, we have been promoting a project to cultivate skilled construction workers among residents." She emphasized, "We will focus more on operating education programs that meet the demands of construction sites by reflecting the opinions of training institutions gathered at the meeting."
